ok, ok. called out!

broke my promise, i suppose. but i will update now, because i have things to update about! knitty updates are fun and good.

so yeah, my jaywalker. haven't touched it. not a knitted (or slipped) stitch knitted (or slipped). i am just torn about what i should do. what should i do? what would YOU do? this is not going to be a pair of socks that i will be able to wear. they are just going to be too tight. i love this yarn, it's so pretty. but that's alot of work. but can i give away my first pair of knitted socks? should i just make them for someone else? that way i would atleast work on them. or should i rip it all out and knit some other sock pattern? i dunno.

ok but what HAVE i been knitting you ask? socks. hahahah. socks for my nephew tho. i realized that he has smaller feet, which in turn needs smaller socks... so include bigger yarn and bigger needles to the party and you are rockin' some socks.

so socks for toddlers (he's 2) are hard to find.. you got KIDS socks and you got BABY socks. i found one pattern that said toddler so i casted on. ok, they were going to be too small, so i ripped it out and did some figuring (oh the math! instant headache!!) and sized up the whole pattern to something that would work, esp. if i fudged it enough. so now they will fit my nephew... but not the intended one, the 2 year old. they will fit my 4 yo nephew instead. oh well.

ok a picture, you have read this far.

i finished this sock today... would have finished it yesterday, but me and the kitchi stitchi were not friends... i was actually 15 minutes late to work because of this sock yesterday. but today, with new and improved directions, i ripped back past the toe decrease and started over. and it was successful (mostly, minor surgery had to happen) but i casted on the other sock and got started on the ribbing today before work (not late today, yay!)

why cant knitting be relaxing for me??? why? lol.... does matter, because of this.

finished product:

loverly, eh? i loved that yarn. best 10$ i have spent at jo-ann's ever. so soft and lovely. i hope katy liked it, i haven't heard from her since she recieved it, but she has much more pressing things going on in her life right now. :( i just hope it gives her a smile sometime.

ok there's your update. hopefully i wont wait so long next time. lol SMOOCH!

long time, no blog

*puts hand over heart*
i promise to start writing here more.
poor bloggy.

ok knitty stuffs.
i have since finished that scarf for my sister. only took me 40 days. my new thing is trying to knit faster and more often. to bad real life gets in my knitty way alot.

I am currently working on a jaywalker sock.
forget "second sock syndrome", i can barely get my first one done. i swear, i dont understand how i can get 3/4ths done with something and totally lose interest. especially when i want these socks so bad. the next one is going to be on circs... i am too slow on dpns. way too slow. but anyways, here is a picture of the sock as it stands right now.

since my waning desire to knit this sock, i have started another "my so called scarf" for some quick instant gratification knitting. it is for a friend. this yarn is so light and fluffy. i think if i could touch a white fluffly cloud, it would feel like this scarf. i heart it.

sorry for the fuzzy picture... i need a new cam. but other projects on the mind is a felted bag from stitch n bitch, and some freaking leg warmers... soon! :D i wish i could knit at work. that would make all this easier. ;) hehe

Not Done Yet....

but so close i can smell it! :D thank goodness... i'm not a finisher... i get 3/4 the way thru something and i get tired of it and dont want to finish. i hate that, but it's just who i am. here some pictures of my sister's scarf.

ribbit. ribbit.

so yeah, i ended up frogging both that scarf i was working on for my sister and the hat i was doing for me.... it was too much. i hate homespun. i will never spend my hard earned dollars on that crap ever again... no matter HOW pretty the colors are... no more! lol.

i ended up getting some other yarn from hobby lobby...it's so pretty! but i am doing the my-so-called-scarf pattern for my sister... i have only ripped it out 4 times... but i think i am on a roll now and have about 10 inches or so done on it... it looks SO GOOD!

i keep promising pictures... but i have just SO not been in the mood to take crappy pictures with my crappy camera. seriously my tolerance for crappy technology is getting really really low. so yeah... no promise of pictures... i mean i will take one when it's done... so no worries there.

ok later, poops... off to knit and chat. what a combination! :D

Oh Lordy....

Man I have not updated my poor knitting blog since Oct. 29th... how sad!

It's not like I am busy or something ... because I totally am not. I am knitting... Right now i am working on a scarf for my sister in some yellow Homespun. *bangs head on wall* I swear on a stack of bibles, after this scarf is over, I am never EVER using Homespun ever again. I dont care how pretty the colors are or how inexpensive it is. Never AGAIN. I hate it... stupid bunching up yarn.

I am also working on a hat for myself... it's Homespun too... gah, I suck... I know. But PRETTY colors... I cannot help myself. The hat's not so bad because I am mixing it with a boucle yarn too. Light blue Homespun and hot pink boucle. It's not going to match anything I have ... but, WHO CARES??? :D Not me. :D

I am in a local stitch n bitch knitting group here in Knoxville... but eh, we just had a huge influx of new members... which is GREAT! But they are just wanting to take over and move the location of where we meet and stuff.... Which we do need to add some days and times... and we will... but it's just they way they are demanding we move the group miles in one direction that's not suitable for everyone else. There may be a new group in the making soon... for them.

I will come back and post pictures of my stuff just as soon as I get some pictures taken. I have had a hurt foot for about a month and half... you would think that the amount of time that my butt has been on the couch, I would have FO after FO... but nope.... i am slacker.

Ok that's all for now... poor poor blog, I wont ignore you anymore!!

Knitting, lately...

Lately, in my little world of knitting, i have been bogged down. I see things I want to make, but I try it and it's all wrong. Ok really, I have only tried one thing that hasn't worked, but man that was enough... I just gave up. I think I just have the wrong kind of yarn for what I want to do. Maybe, or I dont know what I am doing... I dont think my stitches are tight enough but I dont know how to get them tighter, because I am pulling the yarn alot. Stupid slip stitch scarf is what I am talking about... I think it's ok that I gave up because the yarn is green and yellow... and for some reason when I picked it up at the store, I thought it was green and white. Green and yellow, bleck. Maybe a baby hat.

Otherwise, I wanted to make a steering wheel cover (but i dont have a tape measure), i want to make arm/finger warmers (i lack the skillz), and derek is bugging the hell out of me for a felted hat. He even bought the yarn, so I have the yarn, just no pattern, and I cant find a pattern for a Basic Felted Beanie type hat. They all have those funky brims.

I guess I will just have to give it a go and see what happens... I really wanted a pattern so I wouldn't have to rip it out a million times. And I know that's what is going to happen, so that's why I haven't started it yet. Any knitter's out there that have a basic felted beanie/tobaggan type hat? Or heck, even know where I can BUY one? I am, at this point, willing to purchase a pattern.

Otherwise, i am working on a shawl for a friend right now. It's lovely. I will probably purchase this yarn afterwards and make me a scarf from it. I would post a picture of my progress, but eh, nosy eyes, and I dont want to give away the surprise. I will post pictures after I send it to her.

But another thing about the shawl: soft Super Chunky yarn and size 13 needles... does it get better than that? After my many stupid attempts at things I cannot conquer, mindless knitting is exactly what I need right now. So I am really enjoying it, which means that I will speed along on it and it will be over soon and she will get it sooner. :D hehe.

So that's my take on knitting right now. I have to put finishing touches on the baby hat & bib and they are going to their recipents, and dammit she better love them alot. :D hehe. But I will take a picture of those soon too.

*nods*

You are Mercerized Cotton

You are Mercerized Cotton.
You are always very crisp and neat. (???? eh, ok!)
You are very
playful and are happiest while outdoors in the
sunshine. You are sometimes accused of
splitting hairs, but in the end people find you
pretty easy to live with.

What kind of yarn are you?
brought to you by Quizilla
Pretty much true except the first sentence. I really like this type yarn too! Never used it, but always thought it was pretty!

Oops!

About forgot about this thing. I went to a knitting group on Thursday, that was so fun! I am still on the baby stuff kick, but mainly because it's just been slow going. I just haven't been that interested in making that stuff now. It's just boring.

This is what I want to make.
Opera Scarf

And also thinking about making this:
Cape May

But eh, we will see... first off have to get thru this baby stuff... so far I only have one hat, booties, and a bib. Need more than that. Ok, later.

Kinda Disappointing.

I came home from work last night with it set in my mind that I was going to knit up some baby hats. An anchor at work is 6 months pregnant and wouldn't it be cool to have a few things knitted up for her... no problem! yeah right.

So I was so dead tired last night... but did that stop me from sitting in my living room floor with yarn that was supposed to be a scarf for me, and make baby booties?? Nope. They are cute, and they were not hard at all! I am learning!!!! what a concept! lol.

So today, I start the beginning of several baby hats. Well I only had one hat pattern... a 2x2 rib... so I thought, easy! I will just size it down and go with that as one of them. Well I spent all day on it... going back & forth in my brain if it was going to be too big or too small. So finally, I bind off and sew it up the back.

le sigh. So it's currently being blocked on an onion. Too Small. Way Too Small. I know a smelly onion isn't a good thing to block it on, but really it wasn't too smelly and I will probably never meet anybody with a head that small. poopy.

So I found a cute little hat pattern on the internet. Seed st for a few rows then the stockinette st for the rest. Easy, peesy. But crackhead me, didn't pay any attention what so EVER to the needles it called for. I was going back & fourth in my brain again for about 4 rows of seed st. .... "hmmm this looks BIG, cant this be right?" So in my 5th row of seed st, it hits me.... wrong size needles, dummy!

So it calls for 3 mm and I am using 10. Huge difference, much?? Such is my life, people. But! There is a slight upside. It seems it may be able to fit my sister.... and it's in the color that I was going to make her a scarf anyways. So from newborn baby to 25 yr old sister.

Oh well.

I Give.

Hat Of Fugly Yarn: 1

Tammy: 0

It wins I lose. Or maybe it's the opposite... maybe I win, and it loses because I frogged it today. I cannot work with that yarn anymore... I am going to finish up the scarf... another 5 inches maybe? Then it's over. No more, no more! I give.

The Dreaded Yarn

This is derek's mom's hat. Bah. Just thought I would post a picture of the yarn I hate so much!

I do have a few more rows on it now, however. Worked on it some yesterday, while I waited for the tow truck to show up.

So yeah, I'll be happy when this is over. It's supposed to be a knit 2, purl 2 pattern, but I am just using the knit stitch, not the purl, I want to see what it looks like.

Saturday, August 27, 2005

Sometimes ya gotta suck it up.

Well I got a couple of rows into my boyfriend's mom's hat.... GOSH I HATE THIS YARN! i do! i do! i do! Anyways, it's your basic knit 2, purl 2... but I kept forgeting where I was, and really messed up too many times to just say "ah, it's one tiny mistake" and frogged the whole thing... really, I wasn't paying much attention to what I was doing, and it deserves more... even if I hate the yarn.

So I restarted, and have about 3 rows done, maybe?? But I am trying something a tad different, and just using the knit stitch and not the purl... so it wont be ribbed? who cares? who said rib was cool, anyways?? :D lol, I'm being funny. I might like it better like this... maybe.

Anyways, that's where I am. Just thought I would update this ol' blogger thingy. :D

Scarfy Scarferson

So I made a scarf to match Brooklyn's new blue hat... and I finished it in 24 hours! LOL.... thanks to some #15 needles... oh well tho, it knitted up fast and now I can finish another hat I have going... I want to try to get a picture of brooklyn with the hat and the scarf on, so I will do that soon. Yay knitting! :D

Whoo!

I knitted another hat!! This one is a size small... and it was about too small for Brooklyn. So I guess I will stick to size mediums. I am working on moving and cleaning the house so i havent been knitting much, but hopefully I will get to knit some this weekend! :D I have started a scarf to match her hat.

Finished Hat!

I finished it! I finished it!

I was almost late to work today, because I was determined to finish it. I thought it was going to turn out huge... it looked huge on the needles and I didn't do a gauge check. But it turned out perfectly! It fits me perfectly too! This is the first project I have made that wasn't a scarf! I'm so proud! I think I am going to give this one to my mom, since it matches the scarf I made her exactly!

Now I am going to make one for Amelia, then myself... and I took my hat to work today, and all those people want one now too LOL. :D It's so fun! I want one in like every color! Ok, on to the pictures! :D

There you go! How exciting, yo.

Working On...

Still working on my hat! I actually only have about 3 rows of k2, p2 left until I start decreasing, which is only like 6 rows of that... yay! I am going to try to knock out that tonight.

I know the whole ribbing thing is easy, but yet time consuming kinda too!!! Argh the k2 p2... i just wanna scream, PICK one!!! lol, lets knit or lets purl! LOL.

I am very excited to get this hat done. I'm a one project at a time kinda girl. I just want to be a finisher. hehe. I dont know what I am going to do after this... probably another hat, I think. One that might fit someone. LOL.

I do think that the pattern is on crack... this hat is going to be huge, and it's supposed to be a medium. However I didn't do a gauge check either... so that could be my fault LOL. It also said that the hat could be done in 2 hours. HA! Not with me knitting it. I'm a slow knitter. I have gotten faster since I started last August... but I just dont get to knit enough... boo work and no time. :D

Here is a picture of my mom's scarf that I finished for her for mother's day.

And yes she did want it that big. I didn't mess that up too :D hehe.

And here is amelia's scarf, I think the hat I make next will be for her and match this scarf. :)

I love hers to pieces.

Well I think that's all for now...I'm at work right now and I suppose I might should get to work.

Knitty Knitterson

yah, i'm a knitting... I finished my mom's scarf yesterday... only one day after my goal! So lets see... I started it on Mother's Day... and that was.... May 8 and finished May 30..... hehe 3 weeks and one day. lmao. I am a slow knitter. But I dont have alot of time to knit either... I will have pictures of it soon, it's so big I need help taking the pictures. Maybe I will get Derek to help me tonight on my dinner break. Derek likes it... says its very soft and it reminds him of his favorite polo shirt.... have I mentioned lately that he's on crack? LOL...

So now I started a hat. It's a easy ribbed pattern... so hopefully it really will be easy and not ugly too :D The hat I am doing now is just a test hat... for no one... just to see what it's going to look like with the yarn I am using and how the size is going to be. The pattern says this hat should only take 2 hours to make. Hehe... so we will see how long it really takes for me to do it. LOL... pshh... 2 hours. yeah right. I am on row 4 now however. :D

Ok so those two paragraphs were just super exciting, huh? :D I'm waiting on Derek to come home for lunch... mmm bbq sammiches again! whoo. Ok I am about tired of the bbq... hopefully it's all gone today and we can move forward in our lives with other foods. Last night we went to Ruby Tuesday's for a semi surprise party for Derek's sister in law... that was fun... spent money we shouldn't have spent tho. :( Someone made a yummy cake for her too. I wish I had another piece. It was a huge cake tho, I should send Derek back over there for more tonight LOL... they will never eat it all. :D I want ice cream too. good ice cream...ooh a banana split! YUM... can you all tell I am hungry? where oh where is derek!?

Eh, I need to clean the house so terribly bad. It looks like a tornado just landed downstairs... it's because I didn't do a single thing this weekend as far as cleaning ... other than the fact that Derek did a load of laundry. So that means that I am going to have to get my ass in gear and clean. I dont want to tho. Who ever does? It's no fun.

Sunday!

What is the deal? For the last 3 months, I have not been able to sleep past 9 am. And now all of a sudden, today I slept in til 11 am!! Yesterday I slept til 10! It's crazy. I am not whining tho... although, it feels like now I am missing part of my day. Which before when I was sleeping til noon every day, I never felt like I was missing part of my day. LOL. I suppose you get use to the extra hours.

Yesterday was a pretty laid back day. Had the most awesome Po' boy shrimp sammich for lunch, went to the movies and enjoyed Star Wars, Ep. 3. Then to the grocery store and Derek made chicken curry for dinner and we watched the All-Star Nascar races. Took Pdog to the park and then went to bed.

Star Wars, Ep. 3....go see it. I'm not a hard core fan, but it was just a really good movie all around. Derek liked it and he's a star wars geekoid. They even let us take our drinks from outside into the theatre... that was wierd. LOL. We went to a matinee... I think I love going to those much better than the movies at night. For one, it's cheaper... but I like coming out of the dark theatre into the blinding light and still having most of your day left to do whatever.

Tracy just called me. Ethan is crawling!! :D He's 8 months old now... I think. Yeah 8. I dont konw when babies start to crawl, but I know that Nick was so fat as a baby he skipped crawling all together mostly. And I know that when I was a baby I was WALKING at 9 months... but Brooklyn didn't walk til her first birthday. So I dont know... maybe he's right on time LOL. I have to get over there and take some pictures of him... or video, even better.

My mom is having a partial hysterectimy tomorrow.... she's pretty nervous and she's going to be out of work for 6 weeks. I think me and Tracy and the boys are going to go down there next weekend. I really really dont want to... I hate going down there with a passion. And I dont know if I should make Derek come with me... I might could, but really I dont think I will unless he just really really wants to come. Because that would be 5 extra people, eh... too much going on. I hate for him to have to be alone all weekend tho. That would suck. But I dont know, I have to be the good daughter and go tho.

Well I need to go get dressed, I think we are heading to ertown to see derek's parents and grandparents and partake in some chinese buffet.... all I can say is that there better be crab raggoons on the buffet or heads will roll :D
